FICS Does anyone know if the Free Internet Chess Server web site has closed down? I have not been able to access this site for the last three days.

FICS Yes, I was leary of putting this question here because of the GK reservations you cite. But I didn't know where else I could get the straight scoop. (For example, Yahoo Answers gives other game sites on which to play Chess.)
To larsenb,
Could you please tell me where you got your information? Can I access the info so that I don't need to ask here on GK?

kwr1: I think he was saying this thread is chess related and belongs in the chess forum (where it now is). You put in originally in the gk.com related forum, even though it had nothing to do with gk.com. Since it does relate to chess, though, here is a fine place to ask this question, IMO.

If you log into FICS and use the command "news," it will bring up a listing of the past ten or so FICS news items. A good first place to check.
